Campus Crime Alert - Stolen Vehicle July 23, 2018

You are receiving this Campus Crime Alert as part of Georgia College’s commitment to provide campus crime information, in compliance with the “Timely Warning” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Georgia College Public Safety is giving notice of safety advice relating to the following reported incident. 

On July 23, 2017, at approximately 2 a.m., GC Public Safety was notified by the Milledgeville Police Department that a vehicle had been taken from the 300 block of W. Montgomery St. in Milledgeville, Georgia, between the hours of 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on July 22, 2018. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys in the vehicle. The Milledgeville Police Department is investigating the incident. For a description of the vehicle and further updates, please like and follow  GCSU Public Safety  on Facebook. 

The safety of the campus community is a top priority for Georgia College. Whether you are living on campus, in neighboring housing or here to work, you are urged to pay special attention to safety and security precautions. 

While all crimes cannot be prevented, here are some suggestions everyone may want to consider: 

·         Report suspicious persons or behaviors to the police.

·         Lock your vehicle.

·         Store valuables out of sight. 

·         Park in well-lit areas with high pedestrian traffic when possible.

If you ever find yourself in a potentially unsafe situation, you may always request an escort from GC Public Safety.
