Essential of Student Affairs Practice Institute

Georgia College Personnel Association (GCPA) will host their 1st session of the Essential of Student Affairs Practice Institute at Georgia College June 28th.

Do you work in student affairs without a Master’s degree in student affairs? Interested in learning the basics of student affairs? If so, we designed this Institute for you!

The ESAP program is designed to provide individuals who work in Student Affairs (at post-secondary institutions in Georgia...including two-year colleges, four-year institutions, and technical colleges) without a traditional educational background in Student Affairs & Higher Education more insight into the educational foundation that makes up our robust field.

The session details are provided below. As an ESAP participant, you will have an opportunity to explore the topics of:

  2. Legislation
  3. Budget Development/Reallocation
  4. Evaluation/Assessment
  5. Student Engagement
  6. Professional Mental Health
  7. Work-Life Balance
  8. Professional Development
  9. Bringing Your Authentic Self to Work
  10. Racial Bias/Identity
  11. Gender/Sexual Identity
  12. Sexual Assault
  13. Hazing
  14. Student Mental Health

1st Session: THE PROFESSION
LOCATION: Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville, GA)
DATE: Thursday and Friday, June 28th-29th

2nd Session: THE PROFESSIONAL
LOCATION: University of Georgia (Athens, GA)
DATE: Thursday and Friday, September 27th-28th

3rd Session: THE INDIVIDUAL
LOCATION: Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA)
DATE: Wednesday and Thursday, November 7th-8th (Pre-Con for GCPA/GHO Annual Conference)

**The ESAP Institute consists of three 2-day sessions (you must attend all 3 sessions to receive the certificate). 
Each of the sessions (except the pre-conference session) starts with a Thursday session from 8am-5pm & a Friday half-day session from 8am-noon. The pre-conference dates will be a slight difference with a Wednesday and Thursday start and end time at the GCPA/GHO Annual Conference.** 

The cost to attend is $485 total.

***This includes participation in all three of the sessions listed above.  $50 of this years registration will go towards partcipants registration cost for the GCPA/GHO annual confernce to be hosted at GA State University in November.
