Wednesday, Feb. 27, come enjoy an evening of contemporary percussion music, “Gworek and Friends,” at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Georgia College faculty Dr. Nathaniel Gworek normally performs solo. In this concert, he’ll be accompanied by a group of musicians, Mia Eaton, David Johnson, and Don Parker, performing hard rock to quiet and contemplative tunes. Percussion concerts are always a treat and offer a unique blending of diverse sounds. Two compositions will be performed for the first time: “Pray” by faculty member Douglas Bassett and “Ember” by Alyssa Weinberg. Other songs include “Capriccio for Marimba and Violin” by Carrie Magin, “Wind Across the Mountain” by Keiko Abe, “Buzzhaid” by Brian Stirtz and “Crystal Mallet” by Arthur Lipner. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
