Inaugural Georgia College web literacy student fact-checker cohort of 28 completes DigiPo Initiative Project in GC1000 Public Deliberation Course

Twenty-eight students enrolled in GC1000 Public Deliberation through the Bridge Scholars Program became the first group at Georgia College to complete The Digital Polarization Initiative or "DigiPo" web literacy training, which equips them to conduct 90-second fact-checks on the deluge of dubious claims that come across their social media feeds on a daily basis. Georgia College is one of 10 universities nationwide selected by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the American Democracy Project to pilot the development of curricular activities that build analytical web skills and combat the spread of disinformation and digital polarization.
