Thursday, Nov. 15 - Georgia College presents “Orchestral Masterworks”—a concert of enduring masterworks from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods—will be at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. Under the direction of Dr. William McClain, the Georgia College Orchestra will perform masterworks like Johann Sebastian Bach’s timeless “Double Violin Concerto” with violinist and associate professor Dr. David Johnson and senior music major and violinist Arianna Baxter. The evening will close with Franz Joseph Hayden’s “Symphony No. 6 in D major,” nicknamed “Le Matin” for its musical depiction of a beautiful sunrise, use of flute for birdcalls and pastoral horn responses. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
