Southern Writers Reading

The Creative Writing Program at Georgia College presents Southern Writers Reading. A Q&A will be in the Arts & Science Auditorium Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, from 3 to 4 p.m., with an evening of readings with Janisse Ray, Tina McElroy Ansa, Melissa Pritchard, and Sean Hil  in the Museum Education Room at 7 p.m. This reading is free and open to the public. Below is more on the authors.  

Janisse Ray is the author of "Ecology of a Cracker Childhood" and four other nonfiction works. Her latest book is "The Seed Underground: A Growing Revolution to Save Food." She is an activist, a naturalist and has also authored a collection of eco-poetry.

Tina McElroy Ansa is the author of "Baby of the Family" and four other novels. Her sixth novel, "From Here on Out" and a nonfiction work, "Secrets of a Bogart Queen," are scheduled for release in 2017. In addition to being a novelist, she is a publisher, filmmaker, teacher and journalist. Above all, she is a storyteller.

Melissa Pritchard is the author of "A Solemn Pleasure," a book of essays, released in 2015. She has also published seven novels, two short story collections, and a biography. Her novel, "The Odditorium," was an ALA “Over the Rainbow” top LGBT selection.

Sean Hill was born and raised in Milledgeville, Georgia. He is the author of "Dangerous Goods, and Blood Ties & Brown Liquor," named one of the Ten Books All Georgians Should Read in 2015 by the Georgia Center for the Book. He currently teaches at Georgia Southern University.
