On Thursday, Jan. 18, “String Quartet Giants” – a performance of two popular composers from the classical era and the 20th century – will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Max Noah Recital Hall. Guest artists are nationally-acclaimed violinist William Pu and cellist Martin Gueorguiev. Pu founded the William Pu Music Academy in Alpharetta. Gueorguiev is an instructor at Oxford College, part of Emory University. Georgia College faculty members William McClain, viola and David Johnson, violin will also join our guest artist. A lyrical and festive quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven will be performed, which includes an “Allegro” and “Andante con moto.” In addition, a quartet by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, will be featured, presenting a darkly-ironic reaction to World War I.
