This year, the department of Academic Advising within the Center for Student Success is focusing on outreach to sophomore students. We want to promote faculty-student interaction, which is still the #1 factor in higher education retention research.
Monday, Sept. 23 – Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, begins our “Take A Sophomore to Lunch” Campaign, where a teaching faculty member and a student can enjoy complimentary lunch at the Max. Just inform the cashier that this is a “table talk" lunch and present your Bobcat ID. Teaching faculty and current GC students are eligible for one Table Talk Lunch per week.
Over lunch, we ask that you take this time to engage your sophomore in conversation regarding their academic and career aspirations. This is a great opportunity to assist a sophomore in their decision to declare a major and discuss other co-curricular opportunities such undergraduate research and study abroad. Faculty mentoring is a high impact practice that promotes academic achievement and increases four-year graduation rates.
Thank you in advance for participating in the "Take A Sophomore to Lunch" Campaign. Help us reach our sophomores and get them on the path to success at Georgia College!
