Nicole Humphries grew up looking up to her older sister, Kristen, who graduated in May 2015. It was Kristen’s experience at Georgia College that paved the way for Nicole.
“I chose Georgia College because my sister came here, and she played softball,” said Humphries. “Not only that, but I also love the beautiful campus.”
The biology major will also continue the family’s tradition by competing on the Bobcat Softball team. A sport she’s played most of her life.
“I started playing softball when I was 7 years old, so I’ve been playing for about the last 11 years,” she said. “I’m really excited to keep playing at the college level.”
With a strong interest in math and science, Humphries plans to use her degree to helps others.
“I either want to be a pediatrician or a physical therapist. My dad’s a physical therapist and I’ve always had a strong connection with kids,” she said.
Her sister, who also majored in biology and went on to the University of Georgia’s veterinary school, also gave her a heads up on want to expect from her classes.
“She told me to stay focused, especially in the chemistry classes,” said Humphries.
For the girls’ parents, they look forward to continuing to stay involved at Georgia College and in the athletics program.
“We had a wonderful experience with our first daughter and are so glad Nicole chose to come here too. This is exactly where we wanted her to go to college,” said Marisela Humphries, Kristen and Nicole’s mom. “We will definitely be at some of the games this fall. My husband has always done the military day game, so we look forward to continuing that.”
