For incoming first-year student Christina Tan, Georgia College turned out to be the perfect fit for her. It‘s just the right distance from her hometown of Marietta and has all the opportunities for her to make her mark on the world.
“A lot of my friends are here,” she said. “My old softball teammates said they love it here.”
Exited about the next chapter of her life, Tan knows she wants to get involved come August. The former high school softball player says intramural games may be in her future as well as participating in sorority recruitment.
“I’m very excited to move into a new place and meet new people,” she said.
Her older sister, who’s already in college, helped her land on computer science as her major—promising to “help her out” with classes if needed.
As the fall approaches her dad Vincent admits having another daughter leave for college will be tough.
“I feel emptiness definitely,” said her father. “But I like the campus a lot.”
The pair spent Friday, June 23, attending New Student Orientation on campus. During the daylong event, Tan and other students connect with faculty in their intended major and become familiar with the campus as well as the array of academic and campus life programs available.
