Class of 2022: Past injuries made exercise science major want to help others

Name: Madison Leigh Diaz Granados.

From: Apopka, Florida, near Orlando.

Why Georgia College? I wanted to play soccer in college and, as I was researching programs, a friend told me about her visit to Georgia College, and how she thought I would like it. I really liked Coach Clark and Coach Seib and their coaching style. When I visited GC, I liked that it was not too small and the hometown feel. The girls on the soccer team were also very welcoming and spoke highly of GC.

Major: My intended major is exercise science, and I selected it because I've been an athlete for practically my whole life. I've had to deal with many injuries and setbacks in my career, which required me to improve my mental and physical strength. This has made me a tougher person overall, allowing me to take on challenges with an open heart and mind. So, I'm interested in helping other athletes recover like my therapists did for me.

What activities will you do in college? Although playing soccer will be taking up most of my time, I am interested in taking up theater and participating in leadership programs and the honors program.

What are you most looking forward to? I am most looking forward to forming new relationships in my classes, with my team, and at all the events I'm going to participate in, as well as expanding my knowledge and becoming more cultured.
