Name: Margaret Fuchs
From: Macon, Georgia
Major: I chose marketing, because I like talking to people and convincing them to do things. I thought it’d be a good field for me, because I’m very social. I like to be busy, not stationary.
Why Georgia College? I chose Georgia College, because it’s a very good community-based college with smaller classes, where I’ll be able to get to know people and communicate with the teachers better than I would at a bigger school. My grandmother came here, when it was an all-girls college. She graduated in 1957. She met her later-husband at Georgia Military College. So, she had a big history here; she loved it. She was ecstatic that I’m coming here. She just loves this place.
Biggest achievements in high school: I went to Stratford Academy in Macon. I played the saxophone since 5th grade. I was able to become somewhat professional in that area. I also played tennis. Those are my big hobbies.
What activities will you pursue in college? I will be in the Wind Symphony Band and probably in the tennis club. I signed up for a lot of clubs. I want to do new things too, and I’m glad there are a lot of options here.
What are you most looking forward to? Meeting new people and just experiencing college life, in general. Being able to become an adult and live on my own, even though I’m only 40 minutes from Macon. It’ll be a good experience for me to grow.
What qualities will you bring to campus? I can bring diverseness, because I have two gay moms. So, hopefully, I’ll be able to bring some diversity to the college. And I’m really big into music, so I’m hoping to show my roommates music they haven’t listened to before.
Future plans: I’m also big into fitness, and I’m taking a personal training class this summer. So, I’m hoping to become a personal trainer here at the gym or wherever, teaching people fitness. I’m not sure about big overall plans yet. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pursue my hobbies someday through advertising and marketing.
