Class of 2023: Sisters have big plans for their college experience

Name: Kiama Karanja

Hometown: Douglasville, Georgia

Intended major: Biology and minor in Spanish

Why did you choose to major in that? I want to do humanitarian aid stuff in Latin American countries because there’s a lot of stuff going on there right now. I want to be a doctor, and so learning Spanish helps with the Spanish speaking countries.

Why did you choose to come to Georgia College? I heard you guys had really good MCAT preparedness, and I think like 90 percent of the people who came here passed the MCAT so I was excited about that.

What do you plan to get involved with here on campus? I heard there was a board game club that does like Dungeons and Dragons. I’m really excited for that. The HUB had mentioned they were going to make a new club for minority students. I’m interested in getting involved in that.

What’s a fun fact about you? I recently began collecting comic books. I also graduated high school early, so I’m 17.

Name: Rehema Karanja

Hometown: Douglasville, Georgia

Intended major: Computer science

Why did you choose to major in that? I guess I just really like it. I did computer sciences related classes in high school, and I like software engineering.

Why did you choose to come to Georgia College? I came with my sister to a GLIMPSE event, and it was just really, really nice. The people, Javier specifically, was really helpful.

What do you plan to get involved with here on campus? Probably sports and swimming.

What’s a fun fact about you? I really like to draw.
