Marketing major Tory Carver knows a thing or two about branding. The December 2016 graduate has done research on the topic and presented at a conference on ways a business could further their brand.
Her journey at Georgia College allowed her to further define and develop her own personal brand through her work both inside and outside the classroom.
“Georgia College allowed me to grow into myself— into the person I am now,” she said. “I always knew I wanted to get into business in some way, but my experiences here gave me the knowledge and a clear career path to pursue what makes me happy.”
The creative “people person” already has a job lined up with marketing firm AGI Atlanta after graduation. She also credits her other experiences in helping her land that first job.
“Study abroad is the best thing ever, and I recommend everyone to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Carver. “Last summer, I went to Spain with Dr. Doreen Sams, marketing professor. To be able to immerse yourself in another culture and see things you couldn’t see in the U.S. was amazing. It really got me out of my comfort zone.”
Leading up to graduation, each choice has prepared her for the next step in her journey.
“I’ve just had the best experience here during the last 3 ½ years,” said Carver. “I’ve made my best friends, been active in my sorority Alpha Delta Pi and worked with some great professors who truly care about the students. I’m sad to leave.”
Knowing that she leaves forever changed and ready to take on the world confirms Georgia College was the right place for her.
“When I was in high school, a friend talked about visiting Georgia College’s campus, so I figured I’d check it out,” said Carver. “When I came to campus I completely fell in love. I loved that people spoke to you as you walked across campus, and the small town feel was just right for me. I encourage all others to just do what feels right for you.”
