Why Georgia College?: I really liked the small classroom sizes and the opportunities that came from having constant, direct interaction with your professors. What sold me on Georgia College was the dual degree program offered and even though I ended up changing to Pre-med, I have truly enjoyed obtaining my Physics degree.
Why did you decide to participate in Research Experiences for Undergraduates?:
I really wanted to do something unique that would give me valuable research experience. I was on the edge about applying to some MD/PhD programs and doing the REU showed me what doing research in grad school looks like. My research was in the Center for Nanoscale Materials and Biointegration. My research project focused on using polymer micro and nanocapsules for targeted drug delivery with ultrasound.
What advice would you give yourself 4 years ago?: The best advice I could give is to enjoy the time you’ve been given here at Georgia College and find a healthy balance. Like Dr. McGill told us when we were freshmen, if you treat college like a 9-5 job then you will succeed in your classes, have time to enjoy extracurricular activities, and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
What are your plans after graduation?: After graduating I plan on applying to medical school and working as a Medical Scribe or an EMT in the meantime.
