Georgia College focuses on well-rounded career prep

Georgia College’s dedication to prepare students for their career runs deeps with a fully-staffed office that works to connect students with everything from internship opportunities to job fairs.

“Our whole purpose is to get students ready for the transition they’ll experience when they leave Georgia College,” said Mary Roberts, director of the Career Center. “We believe preparing for that transition starts day one.”

Although all majors are slightly different, each one strategically focuses on making sure students are prepared for a career through in-class learning and other opportunities.

“The biggest selling point for professional development is that it prepares you to successfully enter the workplace. That’s a critical activity that has to happen when they leave here,” said Dr. Dale Young, dean of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business. “Probably as important as that, is the ability to be successful long-term in your career. That as well depends on your level of professionalism. College is the place to start that development.”
