May 2018: Senior biology major looks ahead at future in research

Des'Ree Groover

From: Savannah, GA

Major: Biology

Why biology: I've always had an interest in biological sciences whether it was at the molecular level or our planet's ecosystem. Also, biology requires a lot of critical thinking which I truly enjoy.

Who was your favorite professor and why: Dr. Ellen France is an amazing professor. I enjoyed her classes as well as working alongside her in the research lab. She does her absolute best in ensuring that her students succeed.

Plans after graduation: I would love to continue expanding my education by receiving a Master's of Science in Biology.

What is your most impactful experience at GC: Since being at Georgia College, I was provided an opportunity to attend a Southeastern Regional Yeast Meeting conference at Rhodes College. Being there exposed me to other students and projects that they have been working on. Just being in that environment gave me the motivation to make the most out of what Georgia College has provided me.
