Tuesday, Feb. 4 Guest artist and violinist Dr. Benjamin Sung will perform the 24 Caprices for Solo Violin by Italian composer Niccolò Paganini at 7:30 p.m. in the Max Noah Recital Hall. Sung is an associate professor of violin at Florida State University and concertmaster of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. He’s also violin coordinator of the Brevard Music Center and principal second violin of the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. He has worked with many great composers of this generation including John Adams, Pierre Boulez, George Crumb and Helmut Lachenmann. For this concert, Sung will perform Paganini’s 24 Caprices, which are considered to be the most demanding virtuosic works in violin literature. Paganini is a composer from the early romantic period, who pushed the boundaries and capabilities of the violin into modern times. A $10 donation is encouraged.
