Monday, Dec. 3 Georgia College’s Percussion Ensemble concert, “Calm Before the Storm” will be at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Come enjoy an evening of contemporary sounds that begin quietly and end with a bang. Percussion music is unique with a variety of musical instruments like drums, cymbals, triangles, xylophones, gongs, bells and rattles. Selected songs are mostly modern with a touch of romanticism. They include a marimba quartet’s modern interpretation of a work written for piano by Claude Debussy. There will also be uncommon instrument groupings, such as Andrew Beall's piece for three cajóns—boxed-shaped drumming instruments. This concert is directed by percussion instructor Dr. Nathaniel Gworek. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email email@example.com or call 478-445-8289.
