Canceled Concert: All Combinations: Clarinet, bassoon and piano

Thursday, Aug. 22 (Canceled) Georgia College kicks off its fall season with “All Combinations: Clarinet, bassoon and piano” at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Guest artists are clarinetist Peter Geldrich, bassoonist Dr. Shannon Lowe and pianist Dr. Joshua Pifer. Geldrich is an assistant professor of Clarinet at Valdosta State University and serves as principal clarinet in the Valdosta and Albany Symphony Orchestras. Lowe is an assistant professor of bassoon and aural skills—a double-reed woodwind instrument—at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Pifer is an assistant professor of piano and keyboard at Valdosta State University. Music will include pieces by 20th century Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu, French composer Gabriel Grovlez, Russian-born composer Alexander Tcherepnin, Norwegian composer Øistein Sommerfieldt and Russian classical composer Mikhail Glinka. A $10 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
