Dreams: Guest Artist Voice Recital

Nov 5 2018 - 7:30pm
Location:
Max Noah Recital Hall

Monday, Nov. 5 a dreamy, deeply romantic program of music will be showcased in “Dreams—A Voice Recital” by guest artists tenor Daniel Weeks and pianist Donna Loewy. The 7:30 p.m. recital will be in Max Noah Recital Hall, featuring songs that center on the theme of dreams. Four pieces by Franz Liszt are in German. The first three, a set, are parts of poems recited by characters in the opening scene of Friedrich Schiller’s 1804 play, “William Tell.” Two sets of five songs by Antón Gariá Abril are lush and evocative of lost love. Another set of four songs by Tom Cipullo, “The Land of Nod,” are presentations of dreams—some funny, some slightly disturbing. And the final, 12-minute song is a mono-drama involving six characters from the tale of “Red Riding Hood.” Weeks and Loewy have performed together since 1999. A $10 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email music@gcsu.edu or call 478-445-8289.
