Faculty Recital: Youngmi Kim, soprano

Mar 25 2019 - 7:30pm
Max Noah Recital Hall

Monday, March 25 a faculty recital by Youngmi Kim, soprano—in collaboration with guest artist and pianist You Ju Lee from Toccoa Falls University and GC music faculty and flutist Lisa Bartholow and pianist Lev Ryabinin—will be at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Half of the program consists of chamber music for soprano, flute and piano. These are mainly bird songs, showing the communication between soprano and flute. They include works by André Caplet, Camille Saint-Saëns, Michael Head, and Sir Henry Rowley Bishop. Songs by Franz Liszt comprise the other half of the program. These are bird songs—uplifting and sometimes exotic, even melancholy love songs. Liszt’s compositions explore the all-conquering power of love and kindness, the love union between two souls, and youth’s magic. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email or call 478-445-8289.
