In the minutes leading up to “The Nutracker’s” premiere 2016 performance Amelia Pelton, the production’s artistic director, is out among the seats of Russell Auditorium greeting audience members. She’s easy to spot in her festive red sequined jacket adorned with a glittering holiday wreath broach. What you can’t tell by the smile and twinkle in her eyes is that, just minutes before, she was putting out a thousand fires.
Northeast High School junior Kianna Elam has noticed something different in her English class lately.
Students Caitlin Murray and Jeffrey Jones both share a love of languages. It’s that same love that has led them to get involved with a new student foreign language organization on campus.
“The main objective is to empower students and show them how to start a business,” said Emmanuel Little, diversity coordinator. “We want to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship in these students, but there’s also a significant aspect of college prep that goes into the program.”
