‘Big Read’ celebrates the joys of reading and brings community together

This fall, Georgia College hosted a National Endowment for the Arts 'Big Read' event. The purpose of the event is to bring communities together around a common book. 

Georgia Colleges welcomes new vice president for student affairs

Dr. Shawn Eric Brooks has been selected as Georgia College’s incoming vice president for student affairs. Brooks will join Georgia College May 1, 2018. He will assume his new role as vice president for student affairs at Georgia College after the retirement of our current Vice President Dr. Bruce Harshbarger on June 30, 2018.

Georgia College to welcome new dean of the College of Arts & Sciences

Dr. Eric G. Tenbus will join Georgia College as dean of the College of Arts & Sciences effective June 1, 2018. Tenbus is a professor of history in his seventh year as department chair in the Department of History, Sociology, Anthropology and Cross-Disciplinary Studies at the University of Central Missouri. He has taught at the university since 2001.

Weathering the storm: Georgia College works to prepare, protect and clean up after Irma

Thanks to the response from staff across campus during the closure, students staying on campus were taken care of and clean up was smooth and seamless. By the time, students and employees returned Thursday, Sept. 14, they could hardly tell a major storm had just blown through.

Staff profile: Dr. Julia Metzker ENGAGE’s in new, dynamic ways

As director of ENGAGE, she’s helped faculty at GC and community members collaborate on projects that include a community art mural in the Harrisburg community, teaching social justice through theatre plays to middle school students, assisting with the local farmers market and much more.
