Georgia College's Center for Health and Social Issues partners with Community Health Care Systems to increase equitable access to healthcare
Over the past four years, Georgia College’s Center for Health and Social Issues (CHSI) has been teaming up with Community Health Care Systems (CHCS) to meet the health needs of Rural Georgians. At the monthly Middle Georgia Food Bank distribution in Baldwin County's Collins P. Lee Community Center, the two organizations provided primary care health services including blood tests for cholesterol, and other lipids. During this event, CHCS also provided health education materials and available services at their locations throughout Middle Georgia. The Center for Health and Social Issues sponsored the event, covering the costs of services and the co-pays for residents. Throughout the duration of this partnership, these organizations have been able to increase equitable access to healthcare and improve health outcomes for the rural residents of Middle Georgia.
