Back to School Safely Event in partnership with First Friday

Join the Office of Health Promotion and the Wellness and Rec Center with Milledgeville First Friday for one last event for summer! First Friday is hosting a classic car show, live music, and food trucks on North Wayne Street downtown from 6-8 pm. There is also a chili cookoff! The Back to School Safely event will take place in the Liberty and Kilpatrick parking lots as well as Peabody Auditorium (300 West Thomas Street).

This event will feature over 30 vendors for a Touch-a-Truck and health fair. The Touch-a-truck will be in the parking lots and the Health Fair will take place in Peabody Auditorium.

This event is FREE and open to the public! All ages, students, employees, community members are encouraged to attend.

Some of the highlights of the Touch-A-Truck will include a helicopter landing (close to 5:45 pm), a Fire Safety House demonstration, pictures with Sparky Dog fire mascot, a bike rodeo (see what bike fits you best),  construction, service, and emergency vehicles to climb on and explore, boats, ATVS, and an 18 wheeler truck.

The Health Fair will include all types of free information, giveaways (one vendor is giving away a smart phone for kids), and games.  There will be free blood pressure screenings and other demonstrations.

From 5-6 pm, we will be holding a "Silent Hour" for anyone sensitive to loud noises and lights. At 6 pm, sirens, horns, and lights will begin.

Hop on the GC shuttle at the Bell Hall shuttle stop or the A&S shuttle stop and go between each event!

We hope you will join us for this exciting event to close out summer and learn how to be safer at home, on the highway, in the water, at school and work, and online.
