GCSU Opera Scenes Ensemble:  "Wedding Bells and Family Ties"

Wednesday, Nov. 16 “Wedding Bells & Family Ties,” performed by Georgia College & State University’s Opera Scenes Ensemble, will be at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Marriage is the main topic of seven opera scenes performed by 11 students. Operas are in English, Italian and German and include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” and “The Marriage of Figaro; Domenico Cimarosa’s “The Secret Marriage; Gioachino Rossini’s “The Cinderella;” and Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd.” Music major Megan Ostrat will direct a scene from Claudio Monteverdi’s “The Coronation of Poppea.” This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
