GCSU’s award-winning Honors College newsletter receives new name

Georgia College & State University’s Honors Program newsletter will be known as Honorable Mentions: The Newsletter of the John E. Sallstrom Honors College.

First-year Honors student Morgan Gosdin suggested Honorable Mentions in a contest to determine a new name for the newsletter. Members of the Honors Faculty Council selected the name from a slate of entries. Georgia College President Cathy Cox awarded Gosdin a $100 gift certificate in recognition of her contribution to Honorable Mention’s future success.

The change to Honorable Mentions comes after the 2020-21 and 2021-22 editions of the newsletter received 2nd place in the print category of the National Collegiate Honors Council’s 2022 Newsletter Contest.

John E. Sallstrom Honors College Dean Brian Newsome thanks GCSU alumni Milligan Williams, `22, who served as lead editor for both years’ publications and Rosalie Bodkin, `22, who drafted the layout for the 2020-21 edition. Newsome also recognizes the assistance of staff in University Communications for their help with the publication. The National Collegiate Honors Council awarded the Honors College a plaque acknowledging the achievement in November during their conference in Dallas, Texas.

You can read the newsletter on Front Page's publications page.
