Guest Artist Recital:  "Sonata Form: Innovation and Ingenuity" - Caleb Esmond, piano

Thursday, Jan. 12 Georgia College & State University guest artist and pianist Caleb Esmond will perform “Sonata Form: Innovation and Ingenuity” at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Compositions in this concert spans about 200 years, representing four periods in music history: baroque, classical, romantic and impressionist. Each is connected to traditional sonatas while also breaking away from traditional form in creative ways. Come enjoy selections like Johann Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue in E major,” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Allegro con spirito” and Frederic Chopin’s “Grave - Doppio movimento.” Esmond is pursuing his master’s in music in piano performance and pedagogy at Utah State University. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
