Kappa Alpha raises money for the Life Enrichment Center

Once again, the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) turns to the Georgia College chapter of Kappa Alpha Order to provide financial support for their program and its GC partnerships!

The LEC, has been providing student engaged programs and opportunities to adults with intellectual developmental disabilities for over 20 years.  These opportunities were traditionally provided in person either at Georgia College or at the LEC located just five minutes away.

With the need to remain socially distance, the LEC set up a LEC@Home to allow college students and LEC participants to continue to meet on a regular basis and engage in programs and activities safely. That was until the LEC’s server went down and they did not have the funds to replace it.

Ironically, the same week this happened, Charlie Haug, The KA President, called Barbara Coleman, the Executive Director to see if there was anything he and his members could do to support the LEC this semester.

Without hesitation, she asked for their support in raising the $5,000.00 needed to replace the server and upgrade their technology system.

Just like previous years, the KA’s stepped up to the challenge and saved the day! With their support at a local carwash and a generous $2,500.00 check, the LEC has a new server and some of the upgrades needed.

The LEC is still in need of approximately 10 iPads. If anyone on campus or in the community would like to help with donations please reach out to LEC at 478-456-7528.
