New book by chair of Government and Sociology

Dr. Scott Buchanan, department chair of Government and Sociology, has co-edited a book titled "The 2020 Presidential Election in the South." The volume analyzes the political trends at work in the 2020 presidential election in the South. The book, published by Lexington Books, features chapters written by political experts in the field of Southern Politics. Dr. Buchanan’s book is the most recent in a series of volumes that dates to 1984, and the series is among the most prestigious academic studies on presidential elections in the American South. In addition, Dr. Buchanan has recently written a chapter on South Carolina politics in a separate book, which will be published later this year.

Professor Buchanan started at Georgia College in July 2020, after having taught for one year in Helsinki, Finland, as part of the Fulbright program. From 2009-2020, he also served on the faculty at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Prior to 2009, he was on the faculty at Columbus State University.
