Updated Guidelines on the Campus Glass Recycling Program

Updated Guidelines on the Campus Glass Recycling Program

Dear Bobcats,

The Office of Sustainability would like to make you aware of a recent change to our guidelines for the campus glass recycling program. We will no longer accept glass bottles or containers that exceed 4” in diameter. For example, a 30 oz. stainless steel tumbler measures 4” in diameter at the top of the container. Glass containers exceeding 4” in diameter are not compatible with our glass crushing machine and result in unnecessary workplace risks for our staff. We are happy to continue collecting your glass bottles and containers 4” in diameter or less in the glass recycling bins on campus. You can view bin locations on the interactive campus map. We thank you for your cooperation and your support of the campus glass recycling program. With your help, we have been able to divert almost 4,000 pounds of glass waste since the start of this calendar year. If you have any questions or concerns, please email recycle@gcsu.edu.
