Orchestra Concert: A Few American Scenes

Tuesday, Oct. 26 The Georgia College Orchestra, directed by Dr. Bryan Emmon Hall with guest violin and fiddle soloist Dr. Christopher Luther, will be at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. Lively and soulful works will be performed from diverse American composers: William Grant Still, Mark O’Connor and Soon Hee Newbold. There’ll even be some country and Irish fiddling, as well as non-American selections from Anton Arensky, Antonio Vivaldi and others. Luther will perform O’Connor’s exciting fiddle concerto “Strings and Threads Suite.” Luther is co-founder and co-director of the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, entering its 23rd season in Colorado. This recital will also be livestreamed at facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $10 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email music@gcsu.edu or call 478-445-8289.
