To the Georgia College Community,
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, GC Public Safety responded to a campus parking lot in reference to a report of suspicious persons. The subjects had left the lot and were not further identified or apprehended. Officers determined that two vehicles had been unlawfully entered, and one owner reported that an item had been taken from a vehicle. The City of Milledgeville Police Department has taken similar reports in the surrounding area. Investigations are ongoing with both departments.
GC Public Safety wants to remind our campus community to continue to be vigilant when it comes to their safety and security. Public Safety commends the students who notified officers when they saw something suspicious in this case. The safety of the campus community is a top priority for Georgia College. With this priority in mind, here are a few tips as we continue the semester.
- If you see something, say something. Report suspicious persons, vehicles or circumstances to GC Public Safety.
- Preprogram the GC Public Safety number in your phone, (478) 445-4400.
- Download the RAVE Guardian Mobile app. The app allows you to communicate on more levels with GC Public Safety. You can place emergency calls from the app, send tips or multimedia, and even set a safety timer for a virtual escort.
- Be sure to secure your vehicles and residences. This includes locking doors and windows.
- Keep valuables out of sight.
Stay safe, Bobcats!
