HR Deadline Today for 11/29/2020 StartsToday—Friday, November 6, 2020—is the deadline for offer letter submission to the Office of Human Resources for any staff or student bi-weekly new hire or rehire starting on November 29, 2020. Offer letter submission is the first step on the updated start date matrices for all new and rehires. All student and staff offer letters must be sent to HR for review and approval before extending them to the new hire or rehire. This helps ensure that we remain compliant with our many institutional, USG, state, and federal regulations.
The next bi-weekly start date for eligible new hires and rehires will be December 13, 2020. This will be the final bi-weekly start date for calendar year 2020.

Please make sure that you login and complete the following items this year, even if you intend to make zero changes to your current elections:
1) Make sure your personal contact information is up-to-date, and
2) Make sure you have reviewed and acknowledged the tobacco and working spouse surcharges to ensure the monthly surcharges are correct given your personal situation.
- Failure to acknowledge the tobacco surcharge and working spouse surcharge will result in a default of $100 per month surcharge per eligible covered dependent under each category.
You’ll need to visit https://oneusgconnect.usg.edu/, then follow these steps: - On the right side of the screen click on “Manage My Benefits”
- You will be prompted to follow the SSO/DUO login steps via Unify
- Once you have logged in, you will be asked to update your contact information (this is required)
- You can then either click on the tile in the center of the screen that says “Open Enrollment: View or change your enrollment selections until Nov. 6, 2020” (the tile has an an image of 2 people backpacking)

All interested participants, including those who wish to continue in the program, should complete and submit the “Shared Sick Leave Enrollment Form” to Employee Relations, at employeerelations@gcsu.edu, by 5:00 PM on Friday, November 6, 2020.
Eligibility for Enrollment: (during USG Benefits Open Enrollment Period)
- Must contribute a minimum of eight (8) hours sick leave per calendar year, and
- Must maintain a minimum of forty (40) hours of sick leave, at the time of donation, and
- An employee must hold a “benefits eligible” position and accrue sick leave.
Note: - Initial Enrollment: At the time of initial enrollment, employee must have a minimum of 48 hours sick leave, of which 8 hours will be deducted and added to the leave pool
- Re-Enrollment: (current members who wish to continue) must currently have a minimum balance of 40 hours sick leave. No additional deductions are required unless there is a need for a “Special Enrollment.”
- Special Enrollment: When the program is determined to be depleted (120 hours remaining balance) a “special enrollment period” will be conducted with an appeal to the Georgia College community at large to donate sick leave.

READ MORE Take the "Virtual" Train: GC Jazz Band - 2nd nightThursday and Friday, Nov. 5-6 The Georgia College Jazz Band will livestream its fall concert, “Take the Virtual Train,” at 7:30 p.m. both nights. The band will perform classic sounds from charts by Antônio Carlos Jobim, Billy Strayhorn, Oliver Nelson, Miles Davis and Peter Pearson. The concert title is taken from Strayhorn’s “Take the A Train,” which will be performed along with other compositions from the 20th century, like Jobim’s “Desafinado,” Nelson’s “Hoe-Down,” Davis’ “Seven Steps to Heaven” and Pearson’s “Sweet Honey Bee.” Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jazz Band has not met in person.
