Online Interest Meeting - Affordable Learning Georgia Round 19 Grants

Affordable Learning Georgia, a grant initiative of the University System of Georgia focused on the adoption of affordable course materials,  is issuing a Request for Proposals for Affordable Materials Grants. Applications will be due on March 1, 2021.  An Online Interest Meeting will take place on January 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM Eastern.

Introducing New Health Programs through Livongo for 2021

We’re excited to announce that the University System of Georgia (USG) has partnered with Livongo to offer new health programs for eligible employees or eligible spouses enrolled in the USG Anthem healthcare plans.

The programs through Livongo will help employees work towards health goals, get guidance on healthy habits and receive personalized health coaching. Employees will find support for diabetes, weight, blood pressure, stress and more. An iPhone or Android smartphone is needed to participate in some of the programs offered through Livongo. 

The programs are offered at no additional cost to eligible employees, pre-65 retirees and spouses enrolled in one of the USG Anthem healthcare plans that meet criteria such as having a diabetes diagnosis or a risk score based on a CDC questionnaire.

Staff Salary Review

As you may be aware, Segal (formerly Sibson Consulting) and the Georgia College Staff Compensation Review Team have been working on an assessment of our pay grade structure and conducted an audit of staff positions to determine if the valuation of those positions were competitive in relation to the current job market. The assessment has been completed and approved to be implemented effective January 1, 2021.

General overview

Scope of Study:

  1. Review current pay grade structure to ensure that it supports desired pay positioning within pay ranges relative to the competitive market and USG policy guidelines
  2. Audit staff positions to conduct a market assessment
  3. Revise and publish the Pay Administration Guidelines to make certain that staff, supervisors, Human Resources practitioners, and administrators understand their roles and responsibilities to ensure the on-going maintenance and consistency of Georgia College’s compensation processes and procedures.

KEPRO- Employee Assistance Program- Available 24/7/365

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), KEPRO, includes in-person counseling sessions, referrals to community resources, supervisory consultations, crises support, and work-life referrals. KEPRO's services enable employees to access counseling sessions through a large network of professionals throughout the region.

 KEPRO's counseling services include:

• Phone support for crises and emergencies, provided by counselors who hold masters and doctoral degrees.

• Phone support to arrange for in-person counseling.

• Up to four in-person counseling sessions (per incident per year) for a range of personal issues, including depression, work-family balance, and substance abuse concerns.

• Services accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 

Counseling will always be:

•100% Confidential.

• Free to employees, covered dependents, and anyone regularly living in the household.

Sallie Ellis Davis House Exhibit Complicating Colonization: A History of African American Removal from the U.S.

Today is the opening day of the Sallie Ellis Davis House's exhibit Complicating Colonization: A History of African American Removal from the U.S. The exhibit is the second in the exhibit series The Heard African American Story and will run until March 8.

This exhibit explores the removal of African Americans from the United States throughout the nineteenth century, known as colonization. Colonization was both a tool for abolition and a way for slave owners to preserve control over free African Americans in the states. The exhibit uses the creation of the colony (later country) of Liberia on Africa's west coast as a case study and examines the governmental and presidential support the process of colonization had, particularly during the civil war.
