USG Goes Global Accepting Applications for Ireland Study Abroad Program Director

USG Goes Global is accepting applications for the Ireland Study Abroad Program Director. The director will lead, manage and administer the USG Goes Global short-term summer study abroad program to Waterford, Ireland for the next three summers (2023 – 2025). Directors also teach one course on the summer program.

The application deadline is July 12, 2022. Details on the position can be found at the USG Goes Global Faculty Resources website. The application is found here.

Fall 2022 GCReads Faculty Facilitator Sign Up

Registration is now open for faculty interested in facilitating a GCReads micro seminar this fall. GCReads is our common reading experience for incoming first-year students. Students will select one of 10 essays to discuss during a 60-minute micro seminar Friday, August 12, during their Weekend of Welcome. Faculty consistently rate the experience as “excellent” or “good,” and students describe GCReads as a “good introduction to college.”  We are inviting all faculty to consider joining us this year in delivering this first-year reading initiative. Associate Dean Candidate Presentation and Open Forum: Second Candidate

Members of the university community are invited to a presentation and open forum with Dr. Dave Powell, a candidate for associate dean in the John H. Lounsbury College of Education.

REMINDER: Kids' U: Summer's Back in Full Swing!

Kids' University is back up and running this summer. Each week campers explore a topic, create a unique piece of art or crafts, and showcase what they have learned at the end of the week for their parents and fellow campers. Kids' U is a summer day camp program for rising kindergartners through rising sixth graders and runs from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Price ranges from $115 to $125 depending on the week.

REMINDER: High Alert - Electric Pricing - Historically High

GC remains on High Alert status as we are experiencing historically high peak electricity demand pricing ($1.40+ per kilowatt hour above the normal operating price of $.06).  Georgia Power advises this status will remain in effect this week with persistent high alerts anticipated through the remainder of the summer months.   

The campus community is urged shut down all nonessential lighting during the peak hours of 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.  At your discretion, consider unplugging any equipment you deem as nonessential.

If you have access to windows, use the natural light. When not using natural light, close window blinds. Turn lights off when you leave your office. Keep temperatures to 75 degrees F.   All of these measures will help tremendously.
