Boil water advisory lifted for some GC buildings

The City of Milledgeville has lifted a boil water advisory affecting some buildings on the Georgia College campus.

At 9:54 a.m., Thursday,  July 14, City of Milledgeville water department officials communicated that water quality testing has confirmed the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.

These areas include: West Hancock Street between South Clarke Street and South Jackson Street and on South Columbia Street between West Greene Street and West Hancock Street.

Please note that due to the low pressure in the water distribution system that resulted from the water main break, initial discharge from the tap may be discolored. Before consuming any water, please continue to run the faucet until the water returns to a normal color.

Financial Conflict of Interest Policy - Update

Georgia College’s Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) policy has been reviewed and updated in order to comply with federal regulations for Public Health Service (PHS) funded research.  The FCOI policy is effective July 1, 2022 and is applicable to all external grant proposals and funded projects.

Under the FCOI policy:

  • Investigators are required to complete Financial Conflict of Interest training prior to engaging in sponsored research projects and every four years thereafter. Investigators fulfill the training requirement by reviewing the FCOI policy, completing the Financial Conflict of Interest Training Module offered through CITI, and providing a certificate of completion to the Designated Official via the grant submission process.

Perimeter Parking Permits

Do not forget to order your 2022-23 perimeter parking permit at https://georgiacollege.aimsparking.com/.  Once ordered, permits can be picked up at the Parking and Transportation Office, located at 330 West Thomas Street.  

Perimeter permits (P permits) are free to employees and qualifying students.  No additional costs are required.

Announcing new Title IX Coordinator

We are pleased to announce that, effective July 1st, 2022, Shanoya Cordew, in the Office of Inclusive Excellence, has taken on the role of Title IX and Student Compliance Coordinator. We wish to express our gratitude to Sally Chapman for an outstanding contribution to Georgia College & State University in serving as interim Title IX Coordinator since last Fall.  

In the interest of complying with responsibilities under Title IX, University System of Georgia policies, and Georgia College policies, any report of sexual misconduct to a responsible employee must be reported to the Title IX Coordinator as soon as practically possible.
