READ MORE Young Scientists Academy SymposiumIn this six-week Young Scientists Academy (YSA) program, academically motivated rising seniors conduct research under the guidance of a Georgia College faculty member and undergraduate mentors. These YSA Internship students tackle an individual research project and acquire valuable technical and analytical skills, culminating in data analysis and a YSA poster symposium. In some cases, YSA interns will submit their work to national science conferences like the American Chemical Society’s National Conference.
Throughout the six weeks of the program, students participate in weekly workshops with the YSA Director who provides insight into the scientific process, research ethics, how to read a research paper, how to make a poster, and how to network in the science and engineering fields. READ MORE Final Request for 2021 Clery Crime Statistics from Campus Security AuthoritiesEach year, Georgia College releases an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report that includes a disclosure of crime statistics for the previous three years. The institution is working diligently to finalize our 2022 annual report, which will be released by the end of September. These statistics are also reported to the Department of Education.
Crime statistics are compiled from a variety of sources, including, reports from Public Safety, reports from local law enforcement agencies, Title IX reports, student conduct reports, and reports from Campus Security Authorities or CSAs. While our CSAs routinely provide us with reports throughout the year, please consider this a final request for any incident reports occurring within the 2021 calendar year (January 1 through December 31) that have yet to be reported to institutional authorities for ... READ MORE Black Farmers’ Network Launches Rural Community Storytelling ProjectA new rural storytelling project through USDA grant project Black Farmers’ Network (BFN) launches to capture and document those rarely known or documented local histories, starting in the Georgia Black Belt Region. Called the "Georgia Black Belt Gems" project, the stories or "gems" collected from the network's digital submission form (blackfarmersnetwork.com/GeorgiaBlackBeltGems) archive and offer a deeper discussion about the people, places and things that have made Small Town USA special and is critical to sustaining rural community narratives.
READ MORE University System of Georgia Night - Braves vs. MarlinsTogether with the Georgia Lottery Corporation, the University System of Georgia is inviting all USG employees for a special night of Atlanta Braves baseball on Sept. 3, 2022.
Tickets for the game are a discounted $33 per person, and you can purchase them as well as parking for an additional charge at the University System of Georgia Night at the Braves website. The deadline to purchase is Saturday, Aug. 20, at 11:59 p.m., and the tickets are subject to availability.

READ MORE REMINDER: Financial Conflict of Interest Policy - UpdateGeorgia College’s Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) policy has been reviewed and updated in order to comply with federal regulations for Public Health Service (PHS) funded research. The FCOI policy is effective July 1, 2022 and is applicable to all external grant proposals and funded projects.
Under the FCOI policy:
- Investigators are required to complete Financial Conflict of Interest training prior to engaging in sponsored research projects and every four years thereafter. Investigators fulfill the training requirement by reviewing the FCOI policy, completing the Financial Conflict of Interest Training Module offered through CITI, and providing a certificate of completion to the Designated Official via the grant submission process.

READ MORE REMINDER: Sign up to be a GC Lead for GC Gives Day!GC Gives Day is an annual tradition started in 2018 to send our 1,500 new students out into the Milledgeville-Baldwin community to make a positive impact. Students are deployed to sites on and off-campus for a morning of service, engaging in various projects from painting buildings to organizing food pantries to planting community gardens.
To make this day a success we recruit GC Leads: Georgia College faculty and staff who accompany the groups on their projects. As a GC Lead, you'll get to meet new students, work alongside them in meaningful activities, and have a rewarding experience giving back to your community.
