Important Information Security Scam

It has come to our attention that some people affiliated with Georgia College (including recent student graduates) are receiving text messages claiming they are from President Cox requesting gift cards. While this is a common phish scheme in emails, it is unusual for these messages to be delivered via text messages to personal phones. If you receive a text of this nature, please send all pertinent information (recipient phone number, message, and any other content) to iso@gcsu.edu. Do not respond to the text message!

REMINDER: The Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy Virtual Learning Series: Language as a Missing Link and Missed Opportunity Toolkit - A Three-Part Series

While we frequently interact with children, we often miss opportunities to notice the development of language—from infancy through adolescence, monitor engagement as a gauge of language development, screen for potential language difficulties if indicated, and use this information to enhance opportunities for engagement in universal settings. This virtual learning series will provide a new, proactive approach and a toolkit for all who have a role on a child’s path to literacy, paving the way to positive outcomes throughout school and life.

Join us for the Three-Part Series:

July 21—Part 1: Why? The dramatic and positive impact of language development on life outcomes

August 18—Part 2: What? Steps to proactively employ language as a well-being indicator

September 29—Part 3: How? Tools to implement the “why” and the “what” in a manner that is sustainable for individuals, practitioners and policymakers.

Throughout the six weeks of the program, students participate in weekly workshops with the YSA Director who provides insight into the scientific process, research ethics, how to read a research paper, how to make a poster, and how to network in the science and engineering fields. There are also sessions on college admission strategies and ...
