Did you know that every faculty, staff, and student with a current active GCSU email address can receive a complimentary full access digital subscription to the New York Times? Follow the quick and simple directions to activate your academic pass: Activate by going to the website http://accessnyt.com type in “Georgia College” and choose that option, input your active GC email address @gcsu.edu for faculty/staff or @bobcats.gcsu.edu for students, create a personal password, check your campus email for the confirmation email you will receive shortly. Welcome to the start of the new semester!  Preparing for new classes gives us an opportunity to update our syllabus, modify our assignments, and consider ways to improve each course. On Friday, August 12th, at 10:00 AM, The Center for Teaching and Learning will offer a workshop that we think will help you in this process while also working on improving communication with your students. In order for your students to succeed, they will need well-described assignments, strong organization of your course materials, effective teaching behaviors, and successful completion of the work.  Establishing these criteria at the beginning of the semester will provide your students with clear structures, an organized course, easily understood expectations, and a goal to shoot for ...

The System Showdown Step Challenge is August 15–September 25

Get energized and have some fun when you join the System Showdown Step Challenge. This is your chance to team up with colleagues to get active and start a little healthy competition. Teams will be formed automatically for this challenge and participants will be assigned to a team with others from their institution. This challenge is all about team spirit, so rally your team and go all out! REMINDER: GC Choral Ensembles Welcomes All Singers

GC Choral Ensembles are open to students, faculty, and staff. Please click here to find out more information about our choral ensembles. Auditions are Aug. 15 and 17 for Max Noah Singers, and the link to sign up for auditions is included below. Students may register for the unauditioned ensembles; faculty and staff should email me if they would like to participate. REMINDER: Georgia College Softball to Host Two Fall Prospect Clinics

Georgia College's Softball program will hold two winter prospect clinics set for Aug. 28 and Nov. 6. Bobcat Softball invites any high school freshman to senior interested in playing softball at the collegiate level to attend.

Participants are taught the fundamentals and advanced skills of softball in hopes of improving the player's mental and physical understanding of the game. The attendees are also given advice concerning the college application process as well as how to pursue a career in collegiate-level athletics.
