June 19th is Juneteenth

High Alert: GC under exceedingly high electric pricingGC is on High Alert status as higher temperatures result in peak electricity demand that significantly impacts pricing ($.60+ per kilowatt hour above the normal operating price of $.06). Georgia Power advises this status will remain in effect this week with persistent high alerts anticipated through the remainder of the summer months.
The campus community is urged shut down all nonessential lighting during the peak hours of 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. At your discretion, consider unplugging any equipment you deem as nonessential.
If you have access to windows, use the natural light. When not using natural light, close window blinds. Turn lights off when you leave your office. Keep temperatures to 75 degrees F. All of these measures will help tremendously.

During this year's session, the General Assembly passed House Bill 1335, such that upon the Governor's signature, state law would now require 13 paid holidays per year to include Juneteenth. State agencies that already provide for 12 official paid holidays will be required to update their compliance to 13 official paid holidays. The current and future Holiday Calendars for Georgia College & State University have been updated to reflect the recent decisions made by the Board of Regents to add this additional paid holiday.

Tuesday, June 21
Wednesday, June 22
Thursday, June 23
Friday, June 24
Each candidate will present at 1:00 PM on the dates noted, on the topic “Building bridges across campus and beyond.”
The open forum presentation will be held in the Pat Peterson Museum Education Room. With limited seating, we will also offer a virtual option. A Zoom link for each session, along with a candidate feedback form, will be provided to the campus community through Frontpage on the day each candidate is on campus.
