Weekend of Welcome - Bobcat Marketplace

Are you excited to meet the incoming class and share information about your organization or your department? You have an opportunity to do so at the Weekend of Welcome Block Party and Bobcat Marketplace!  The event will be held from 8-10:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12. Marketplace Check-in will start at 7 p.m. Please plan for representatives of your organization to stay until the end. Each organization will be limited to only 2 representatives. The Marketplace will be held along Greene Street in front of the residence halls.

Please be aware that NO electricity will be provided.  Organizations are encouraged to only bring electronics that have the capability of being powered off batteries. We DO NOT provide tablecloths; you are encouraged to bring your own table coverings and decor to highlight ...

Campus Community Book Drive

The GIVE Center invites you to participate in the GC Gives Day Book Drive! We are collecting children's books (approximately ages 5-12) from July 25 to August 12 for GC Gives Day. Gives Day is an annual day of service for all new students. This year, our Class of 2026 will write encouraging notes in the books to celebrate back-to-school, and the books will be donated to Baldwin County School District elementary classrooms to support literacy in our community.

Drop-off locations on campus:

  • Parks Hall 206
  • A&S Lobby
  • Einstein's at MSU
  • Wellness and Recreation Center
  • Residence Halls

Drop off your new or gently-used books at our campus locations or ship them directly from Amazon and other booksellers to:

REMINDER: Director of Community Engagement Presentation and Open Forum

Georgia College faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend the presentation and open forum for the three candidates for the Director of Community Engagement on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, and Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in the Mayfair Hall Presentation Room.

Each candidate will speak for 30-40 minutes on the following topic: 

"What is your strategic vision for how the GIVE Center will serve GC students, the local community, and higher education at large?"

Following the presentation, each candidate will respond to questions from the university community.

REMINDER: Summertime Jazz at Amici's

Come out and enjoy A Night of Jazz Standards with GC Jazz Faculty and Friends on Tuesday, July 26, 7-9 pm at Amici Café in downtown Milledgeville.  Georgia College faculty, Chris Enghauser, bass and Don Parker, vibes will host the evening featuring Wendell Harrelson on tenor and GC student Jacob Hammock on drums and vibes. Come in from the heat and enjoy the menu and the live Jazz at Amici Café. We hope to see you there!

REMINDER: Georgia College Leadership Programs to Host the Inaugural TEDxGeorgiaCollege

In partnership with TED, Georgia College’s Leadership Programs are bringing TEDx to Georgia College and to Milledgeville. The inaugural TEDxGeorgiaCollege will be hosted Friday, October 21st, in the historic Campus Theatre in downtown Milledgeville. 

TEDxGeorgiaCollege will feature eight to ten speakers and performers who will deliver talks on the latest ideas and research, all in the spirit of TED’s commitment to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” Each talk will be broadcast internationally and shared through TED’s global network, showcasing for the international TED community the unique voices, stories, and ideas that make Georgia College special.

This inaugural TEDx event will explore the theme “Power of the Public Square.”
