GC Gives Day promotes service as important part of GCSU Experience

Georgia College & State University invites you to the Inauguration of President Cathy Cox – August 19th

Please join us for the Inauguration of President Cathy Cox, 12th President of Georgia College & State University, on Friday, August 19th at 3:00 p.m. in the Centennial Center. There will be a dessert reception following the ceremony.

Shuttles will run from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. from the Clarke St., Montgomery St. and Wilkinson St. stops directly to Centennial Center, and then again after the ceremony.

At 5:30 p.m., Georgia College will host a Campus and Community BBQ on Front Campus. There will be live music from High Speed Dream and Highway 49. 

All are welcome to send a congratulatory message to President Cox before the ceremony. Please see the Inauguration website for more details.

Georgia College Basketball to Host Prospect Camp Sept. 10

The Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball program and head coach Ryan Aquino will hold a Prospect Camp Saturday, Sept. 10. The camp is open to any boys in grades 9-12 interested in playing basketball at the collegiate level.

Participants are given collegiate-level instruction, competition and exposure. The attendees are also given advice concerning the college application process as well as how to pursue a career in collegiate-level athletics.

"This prospect camp has been very valuable for us in the past," said coach Aquino. "We've found several through this camp that have eventually taken spots on the Bobcat Basketball roster. Not to mention the fact that it helps all attendees learn about the recruiting process both at GCSU as well as at other schools in all different levels of collegiate play."

Mentorship for Faculty who Teach GC1Y and GC2Y Courses

Drs. Stefanie Sevcik, Jeff Turner, and Scott Butler are sponsoring a mentorship program this semester for faculty who are teaching either GC1Y or GC2Y courses for the first time.

Participating faculty will be given guidance for their courses and ongoing mentorship to ensure both students and faculty have the best possible experience.

Please RSVP Dr. Butler if you plan to attend the first meeting on August 26th at scott.butler@gcsu.edu.

Signature template ensures consistency in email

In an effort to promote consistency across internal and external email communications, the Office of University Communications offers a template for employee email signatures. We encourage all employees to utilize the standard signature in all email correspondence and to adopt the full name of the university, particularly when communicating with external audiences. 

The template includes all the necessary information, along with optional details, to maintain brand consistency across email applications. If you use Microsoft Outlook, the guide also includes instruction on how to modify your signature in the application.

Benefits & Well-being Fair: October 6, 2022

The Benefits Fair is BACK! We will be hosting this in-person event on October 6, 2022 in the Magnolia Ballroom/Student Activities Center from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Many of our benefit and retirement vendors will be present and committed to speaking directly to YOU on this day. They will bring materials specific to their area of expertise, and they may even have some goodies for you to leave with, so please come prepared with your questions! As usual, we will plan to partner with our vendors to offer biometric screenings and flu shots this day as well (appointments will be limited).

This year, we are also adding new vendors and will be hosting a Well-being Fair simultaneously. Some of our benefit vendors will serve double duty for Benefits and Well-being, but we will also be inviting some new, local vendors who will be present to provide information on the ways their products and/or services ...
