Reminder: Self-Care and Social Justice Virtual Workshop

The Office of Inclusive Excellence presents Self-Care and Social Justice Virtual Workshop on October 29 at 12:30 p.m. Connect with like-minded peers as we discuss how to navigate challenging campus, community, national, and global issues and how we can take care of our physical, mental, and emotional selves when our environment may be disaffirming. Participants will learn to identify the symptoms of social justice stress and how it impacts them. Likewise, participants will be able to identify ways of managing their distress to improve self-care.

If an undergraduate researcher is accepted to present at NCUR, there will be no upfront cost to them. Students: It is important when submitting your work to NCUR to work with your mentor and be sure to list Dr. Doreen Sams as the Campus Contact person. If your research is accepted, specify that the registration fee be charged to Georgia College. Faculty: If your FAN session presentation is accepted at NCUR, MURACE will cover your registration cost. REMINDER: The Duo Tachoir with Guest Artists Jerry Tachoir, vibraphone and Marlène Tachoir, piano 

Monday, Oct. 26 A concert of contemporary jazz—with swing, Latin, contemporary, and classical elements—will be at 7:30 p.m. online. Guest artists Marlène and Jerry Tachoir will perform original compositions from their recent album, “Shades of Blue.” With Jerry on vibraphone and Marlène on piano, the duo will play pieces like “Anthem,” “A Green Blues,” “Tearful” and “Dance of the Dormouse.” Both graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. “Shades of Blue” is their 10th album and features selections of original, eclectic jazz compositions infused with a blues influence. REMINDER: Call for Applications for Posters at the Georgia State Capitol

The third annual “Posters at the Georgia Capitol” will take place on February 24, 2021, from 1-5 p.m. (includes set up times) synchronous online virtual conference. Any student who is enrolled as an undergraduate student in the Spring of 2021 in a public or private Institution located in the State of Georgia is eligible to apply.  Applicants with presentation experience across a variety of audiences receive priority. Research that crosses disciplines or has multiple disciplinary implications are preferred; however, other quality research will be considered.
