GCSU's 2022 Nutcracker begins with senior citizen preview

The 26th annual performance of Georgia College & State University's "The Nutcracker" opens next week, Dec. 9-11, in Russell Auditorium. But performers from the GC Community Dance program are already 'on pointe,' giving a mini performance in the community.

Dancers delighted assisted-living residents at the Fellowship Home at Meriwether in Milledgeville Wednesday night, Nov. 30. A large group of seniors gathered and applauded the preview of Tchaikovsky’s cherished Russian ballet. Dancers performed five pieces from the production in full costume. Afterwards, they chatted with their audience.

GCSU's full production of "The Nutcracker" opens Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. Other shows will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.

Tickets are $15 general admission; $10 for senior citizens, non-GCSU students and GCSU faculty and staff; and $5 for GCSU students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at tickets.gcsu.edu.
