A Special Talk with Deborah Cohan

In this interactive and engaging session, author and professor Deborah J. Cohan will explore dynamics of intimacy and violence. Drawing on a mosaic of expertise, including her recent sociological memoir about caregiving for her abusive father and her many years of counseling violent offenders and working with survivors, Cohan will take us on a journey that is at once up close and personal while uncovering larger social forces at play in this complex phenomenon. Cohan's work and life, and this talk on campus, offers ample evidence for thinking about healing and recovery from trauma and crafting a life that is not overrun by despair.
