Student-athletes recognize academic role models

Georgia College & State University student-athletes celebrated their academic success during a Tailgate Tour event with the men’s and women’s basketball teams Wednesday.

The NCAA recently honored Georgia College with the Presidents’ Award for Academic Excellence, recognizing the university’s superlative Academic Success Rate (ASR).

The NCAA Division II Presidents’ Award is presented to all member schools earning an ASR of 90% or better. Georgia College posted a 94% ASR, tops among Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools. The Bobcats led all public schools, ranking in the top 10 overall and best among schools in the Southeast Region.

To celebrate, Georgia College senior student-athletes invited faculty members who’ve had an impact on their education to be recognized during a ceremony at center court between the women’s and men’s basketball games.
