GCSU hosts young scientists at 46th annual Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Middle and high school students from Baldwin, Bibb, Hancock, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Laurens, Monroe, Putnam, Twiggs, Washington and Wilkinson counties descended on Georgia College & State University’s Wellness and Recreation Center today to show off their curiosity and science skills.

Chemistry Major Tyler Walters, a junior from Suwanee, volunteered to judge the science fair to help build interest in science among young children.

“When I was a kid, there were not many science fairs for me to participate in,” he said. “I know there are a lot more kids out there who have an interest in it. I’m happy to volunteer today because we need to have innovative leaders in science and S.T.E.M.”
