The Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy is searching for three new members to add to our small but mighty team: Early Language Professional Development Specialist, Research Associate, and Early Literacy Professional Development Specialist. The Early Language Professional Development Specialist will develop a statewide professional development program in early language and literacy brain development for childcare center directors, caregivers, and teachers of children birth to preschool.  The Professional Development Specialist will serve as the Center’s expert on the unique needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their teachers and caregivers.

The Research Associate will design and conduct program evaluations, specifically managing, collecting, and analyzing educational data.  The Research Associate will provide technical support in managing contracts and communication with external researchers engaged to provide research background, evaluation proposals, or evaluation services for models in development or implementation.  The Research Associate will collaborate with Deal Center colleagues, university faculty, state agency administrators, school system administrators, and non-profits that are seeking to advance literacy to plan and conduct research studies.  The Research Associate will seek external funding for the Center’s research activities.

The Early Literacy Professional Development Specialist will develop a statewide professional development program in early language and literacy for teachers of children kindergarten to third grade, literacy coaches, principals, superintendents, and other school leaders.  The Professional Development Specialist will collaborate with the GA DOE, RESA, school systems, USG teacher preparation programs, and other professional development providers offering support in literacy along with community partners to explore ways to provide literacy enrichment for children K - 3rd grade.
